TREE BOARD MINUTES November 6, 2014

Present: Amy Carter, Martha Davis, Terese Fister, Kate Greer, Mike Hayman, Marsha Myers, Cheri
Silvey-Slusher.

Guest: Lynn Renau

The minutes of October 2 were approved.

FINANCIAL REPORT: The Tree Account Balance is $1,425.00
The Arborist Account is $1,422.04

COUNCIL REPORT: The Council approved a Tree Lottery giving away 25 trees (male ginkho, oak, maple,
and/or tupelo with a limit of $12,500. The tree will be planted with consultation from Mike.
1026 postcards were sent to the residents. As of 11/06/14, 59 people had signed up. The deadline is
November 15.

After the drawing, an official will call residents and set up a series of multiple visitations on the same day
by Mike (preferably on Saturdays).

Glow on the Green will be on November 30 starting at 5:00

MIKE HAYMAN’S REPORT: Mike and Martha met with residents from Bentwood Place today. Residents
were seeking Mike’s advice about landscaping the entrance. The soil is not good. Mike recommended
at least one canopy tree on each side and possibly smaller ones to go along with the ,arge ones. He
advised them not to use shrubs. The Tree Board could put in the trees.

Mike is telling BUD that he is going to start phase one of the Westport-Foeburn project next week so
that BUD will take action. He hopes to have the red cedars in soon.

NEWLETTER: Terese is going to write about what the Tree Board is doing.
Lynn Renau discussed the issue of some of the larger trees in Windy Hills that could be perilous to
houses and people. She would like to encourage planting of smaller trees. This brought up a discussion
of possibly having residents voluntarily provide money with the assistance of the Council to hir~
Hazard Arborist assess the trees In the contributors’ yards. Mike is going to contact Andrea Ha’fQlon,
who has the certification. Kate will bring up the suggestion to the Council.

The Board voted to eliminate a December Board meeting.
