Keep Updated on Construction and Traffic

KYTC is currently demolishing a portion of the Brownsboro Road bridge over the Watterson.  Traffic from the Watterson East bound will be diverted onto Brownsboro Road.  We can expect ongoing and significant delays and traffic backups on Brownsboro Road. We suggest you join the KYTC email list for current updates to the project. It’s a simple form.  After typing your email address, click “I-264/US 42 Improvement Project-Jefferson County,” click to consent, then Submit.

Kentucky League of Cities
Survey Says!

A special THANK YOU to all the residents that took the time to fill out the survey and mail it back. Our goal was to hear the collective voice of our residents.  The strength of the survey is only as great as those who took the time to voice their wishes.

The report contains results of a city-wide survey we mailed to residents in early 2025.  Thanks to the Kentucky League of Cities, who helped facilitate the process.

Upcoming Fall Events at City of Windy Hills

Arbor Day

An Arbor Day Celebration is set for Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 3-5PM on the Green.  We will have free ice cream, kids’ activities, a guided tour of the Green, an educational talk about tree diseases with examples, and more.

Dispose of your Trees!

As you prepare to take down your Christmas decorations, please follow the guidelines below for proper Christmas tree disposal in Windy Hills. Please place your Christmas tree at the curb on your regular trash collection day (Tuesday) rather than on yard waste day. Most yard waste is transported to a mulching facility in Indiana, and the sap and resin from Christmas trees make them unsuitable for mulching.
Before placing your tree at the curb, all decorations must be completely removed, including tinsel, ornaments, lights, hooks, ribbons, and tree stands. Trees containing any of these items cannot be collected.
If your tree’s trunk is larger than 4 inches in diameter, please cut it into 4-foot sections prior to setting it out for collection.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our waste collection process running smoothly.
